Communicable Disease Surveillance and Follow-Up
Clarke County Public Health provides follow-up or investigative service for all reportable communicable disease referrals as adopted by the Iowa State Board of Health. Clarke County Public Health maintains the ability to receive urgent disease reports and/or notification of other public health emergencies requiring agency response on 24 hours per day 7 days per week basis. We also provide special immunization and/or screening programs, as necessary, as recommended by the Iowa Department of Public Health and in conjunction with the local physicians of Clarke County.

Public Health staff is trained to protect and preserve your health and safety from infectious diseases by:
- disease surveillance; investigation of acute outbreaks
- public and professional education and consultation on infectious diseases
- immunization and vaccine guidelines
- treatment after animal bites
- vaccines for international travel
